FIELD: ultrasound control.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of ultrasound control, in particular to a method for determination of linear dimensions of an outlet of branches of tee welded joints (direct in-cuts) into the main gas pipeline, using ultrasound flaw detectors using an acoustic tomography principle; it can be used in the preparation of a gas pipeline for initial inspection with in-pipe inspection devices. A method for determination of linear dimensions of an outlet of branches of tee welded joints (direct in-cuts) into the main gas pipeline, using high-frequency tomography methods, is proposed, consisting in excitation in a control object of ultrasound oscillations with an antenna-focused array, with subsequent automated calculation of a distance from the antenna array to an end of a branch pipe and calculation of a length of a protruding part of the branch pipe according to the corresponding formula.
EFFECT: possibility of determination of a length of an outlet of a branch pipe into the main line with a length up to 160 mm, high accuracy of determination of the length of the outlet of the branch pipe is ±(0.02⋅L+1.00), where L is the measured range along a surface, mm; simplification of a method for determination of the length of the outlet of the branch pipe due to automated calculation of a distance and visualization of images of an end angle of the branch pipe on a flaw detector panel.
