FIELD: medical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention provides oral care systems (1100) comprising: a device comprising a first (1132) and a second (1134) plurality of nozzles, wherein the device is capable of being held in the user's mouth. The system comprises a) a fixture comprising a first and second plurality of nozzles and configured to be held in the user's mouth such that the said first and second plurality of nozzles are in fluid communication with the surfaces of the user's oral cavity. The system includes b) a gas source and c) a liquid source. The system has d) a reciprocating flow controller for directing liquid medium into the said device. The system is configured to supply gas from the said gas source in pulses from the said reciprocating flow controller to the said first plurality of nozzles in the said device with a gas pulse frequency from 0.1 to 25 Hz and to supply liquid from the said liquid source in pulses into the gas supplied by pulses from a reciprocating flow controller, with a liquid pulse frequency from 0 to 50 Hz, to form an entrapped liquid medium between the said reciprocating flow controller and the said first plurality of nozzles, and control the frequency and direction of the liquid pulses and the frequency and direction of the gas pulses with use of software. Control of the frequency and direction of the liquid pulses is performed using software other than the software used for controlling the frequency and direction of the gas pulses. The liquid/gas pulse frequency ratio ranges from over zero to 50. The gas source provides gas at a pressure of 5 to 20 psi and the reciprocating flow controller provides reciprocating flow of liquid medium, liquid or gas. The oral care method includes holding the device of the system in the user's mouth and operating the said system to direct the trapped liquid into and remove the liquid from the said device.
EFFECT: providing a favourable effect on the oral cavity of a human.
