FIELD: pharmaceutics.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the preparation of an alpha-2A adrenergic receptor agonist, which can be used as a sedative or analgesic. A method for the preparation of 2-(5-methoxy isochroman-1-yl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazole hydrosulfate, formula (Ia), is presented. In another embodiment, a new compound of formula (V) and a method for obtaining it are provided. In the third embodiment, the use of the compound of formula (V) as an intermediate for the preparation of hydrosulfate 2-(5-methoxyisochroman-1-yl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazole, formula (Ia), is presented.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides the preparation of 2-(5-methoxy isochroman-1-yl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazole hydrosulfate, formula (Ia), using a compound of formula (V) with high yield and purity.
