FIELD: steel processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for boriding the surface of a steel part by means of microarc surfacing. A mixture comprising iron powder and not less than 50 wt. % powder of boric acid is fed on the surface of the steel part in the zone of microarc surfacing and perform microarc surfacing. Said microarc surfacing is carried out with translational-rotational motion of a steel part by means of a microarc discharge between a non-consumable metal electrode immersed in the charge continuously supplied to the microarc surfacing zone and a steel part with the formation of a diffusion zone. The mentioned diffusion zone has a width of up to 1000 mcm and is a layer of particles of iron boride Fe3B, which are its main structural component, which are dispersed in α-matrix of iron.
EFFECT: improved quality of carbon steel boriding due to the formation of said diffusion zone at the coating-substrate interface and increased productivity of the boriding process during microarc surfacing.
