FIELD: optical measurements.
SUBSTANCE: inventions group relates to the field of optical measurements, namely to fiber-optic devices for measuring angular velocity using sensors using the Sagnac effect. The fiber-optic angular rate sensor contains a laser radiation source, a sensitive element with two inputs/outputs, and a signal processing unit with two photodetectors. Each input/output node is connected to a radiation source and its own photodetector. In this case, the sensitive element is implemented as two counter-directional Mach-Zehnder interferometers, each of which operates on the basis of the same two fiber-optic coils wound in series at least partially around a common axis.
EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of measuring the angular velocity due to effective drift compensation of the fiber-optic sensing element.
