FIELD: electrometallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: production of magnesium with a zero degree of oxidation. The method includes electrolysis of an aqueous solution of magnesium chloride using a cathode coated with a polyaniline film and an anode made of graphite. The concentration of magnesium ions in an aqueous solution is between 300 mg/l and 7 g/l, and the total concentration of other dissolved salts does not exceed 50 g/l. At the same time, during the process, the temperature of the solution is maintained in the range between +1°C to +4°C, the DC voltage is 3.0-31.0 V, and the current strength is 1 A-10 A, ensuring transition of magnesium ions to the zero-oxidation state at the cathode with a polyaniline film and retention of small fragments of formed magnesium in the polyaniline film.

EFFECT: extraction of up to 75% of magnesium is enabled.
