FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ferrous metallurgy, specifically, to production of electrotechnical isotropic steels with a low carbon content. Steel is processed through a wash heat on an RH vacuum degasser with a full degassing cycle to a carbon content of not above 0.006% wt. prior to accepting stock with a carbon content of not above 0.002% wt. for processing, no later than the time regulating the vacuum chamber to be installed for gas-oxygen reheating. The process of decarburisation is executed on the RH vacuum degasser while supplying lifting gas through an intake pipe with minimum technically possible flow rate throughout the entire process of degassing, wherein the flow rate value is set according to the following ratio: qopt≥qmin + 0…20 m3/h, wherein qmin is the minimum flow rate of the lifting gas, depending on the technical capability of the used RH vacuum degasser, m3/h; qopt is the optimal flow rate of the lifting gas for stable production of a carbon content not above 0.002% wt., m3/h.
EFFECT: possibility of reducing the carbon content in steel after the stage of decarburising to a level of not above 0.002% wt.
