SUBSTANCE: technology relates to light detection and ranging systems (LiDAR, Light Detection and Ranging) in general and, in particular, to systems and methods for scanning the environment using coherent detection. Lidar system with time-of-flight measurement contains a laser source that emits a light beam in a narrow band, a fast-switching module that emits short pulses of the light beam along the first optical path, and the remaining part of the light beam - along the second optical path, a scanning unit that emits short pulses. in the direction from the system to the surrounding objects, at least one optical element that combines the residual light in the second optical path and the signal reflected into the system from the surrounding objects, a detection unit that receives the combined signal, and a controller that processes electronic signals from the detection unit received from the combined signal, and determining the distance to at least one of the surrounding objects by determining the time of flight calculated by processing the electronic signals obtained from the combined signal.
EFFECT: improving the quality of weak signals in the lidar system while limiting the output power of the light source of the lidar system.
