SUBSTANCE: method of applying the granular material to at least one outer part of the food product (P) that comes into contact with the granular material and consists of a viscous semi-finished product such as cream, chocolate, honey, includes the steps of providing a mould (2, 102) having a cavity of (S; S') shape, limited at least partially by at least one movable wall (22B; 106). Next, the product is placed (P) in the cavity of said mould by positioning said outer side (p1) facing the moveable wall and at some distance from it (22B, 106). The granular material is introduced into the gap (24; 112) located between said movable wall (22B; 106) and the outer wall of the product. After that, said movable wall (22B; 106) is moved towards the outer side of the product, so that it presses said granular material against the outer side (p1) of the product (P). A device for applying granular material is also proposed.

EFFECT: invention is aimed at development of an improved method for applying a granular material to a product.
