FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in tool production in the restoration of punching and shaping tools operating under high temperatures and shock and power loads during hot metal deformation. The method for restoring the working engraving of hot deformation dies includes removing the worn engraving and the defective layer, two-layer electric arc surfacing and forming the working engraving of the die by mechanical processing, while after the first surfacing, tempering is carried out at a temperature of 620±10°C to obtain hardness in the range of 34-36 HRC, and after the second surfacing, tempering is carried out at a temperature of 520±10°C to obtain a hardness of 42–46 HRC.
EFFECT: improving the performance of the tool due to the formation of the working engraving of the punch with a gradient of structure and properties over the section in the deposited metal.
