FIELD: petrochemistry; oil refining.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates specifically to polymers used as depressants and inhibitors of asphalt, resin and paraffin (ARP) deposits. The method for producing a depressant and an ARP deposit inhibitor used in depressant-dispersant additives for oil, copolymerization of (meth)acrylic acid and styrene in an aromatic solvent medium is carried out at a monomer ratio of (meth)acrylic acid:styrene, in % by weight, 25-75:25 -75 with the addition of a radical polymerization initiator at the rate of 2% by weight of monomers at a temperature of 75 to 80°C for at least 24 hours. White or off-white precipitate that forms is filtered off, washed with methanol and vacuum dried. The resulting copolymer is added to a higher alkylamine at the rate of a 1.2-fold molar excess of alkylamine with respect to carboxyl groups, and the mixture is heated in a stream of nitrogen to 150°C for at least 12 hours and then cooled to room temperature.
