FIELD: rail vehicles.
SUBSTANCE: monitoring technical condition of wheel sets of rail vehicles. Device for laser scanning of a wheel pair of a moving locomotive includes modules for laser scanning and receiving devices, which are located on opposite sides of the rail. At the same time, a module of three laser scanners is located on the inside of the rail, and a module of two laser scanners is located on the outer part of the rail, each of the laser scanner modules is characterized by a different wavelength index, the module of three laser scanners is configured to register the wheel profile at its top flange, and a module of two laser scanners is configured to control the wheel rolling surface.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of measurement of wheel wear, estimated by the geometrical parameters of its flange.
