FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway transport, namely to control over locomotive wheel pair wheels and may be used for flaw detection in all-rolled wheels. Proposed method consists in irradiating wheels by transducer rays and receiving reflected signals by transducer receivers for further combined processing of transducer data and determining wheel diameter by wheel rolling surface and angle of contact between wheel and rail. Said transducers provide two profiles on wheel inner face to determine face position in space and to determine angle of contact between wheel and rail, and three profiles from wheel rolling surface with at least three points located 70 mm from inner face plane. Obtained points are used to calculate diameter of wheel as circumference running through three points in space. Circle chord length between points is considered to be maximum by taking two profiles from wheel rolling surface and third profile from wheel section closest to rail.
EFFECT: better control over wheel wear, higher safety.
