FIELD: foundry production.

SUBSTANCE: suspension for the facing layer of a ceramic mould for investment casting contains of a ceramic refractory material and an acidic aqueous colloidal binder in the form of an aqueous colloidal solution of metal oxide. Fused mullite is used as a ceramic refractory material, and the components are taken in the following ratio, in % by weight: acidic aqueous colloidal binder - 43.0-47.0, fused mullite - 53.0-57.0. The density of the suspension is 1.70-1.85 g/cm3, and its viscosity is 60-70 s. According to another option, a surface modifier, cobalt aluminate, is additionally introduced into the composition of the suspension at the following ratio of the components of the suspension, in % by weight: acidic aqueous colloidal binder - 43.0-47.0, surface modifier - cobalt aluminate - 4.0-12.0, fused mullite - 45.0-49.0.

EFFECT: increase in the density and strength of the ceramic mould facing layer is provided, which makes it possible to improve the quality of its facing layer and reduce the rejection of manufactured castings due to blockages, as well as the suitability of using a suspension for an automated ceramic mould manufacturing process.
