FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ophthalmology, and can be used to treat the surgical field during cataract phacoemulsification (PEC) with IOL implantation. The skin of the eyelids and the periocular region is treated with an antiseptic solution and a 2-fold instillation of a 5% solution of povidone-iodine is performed into the conjunctival sac with an exposure of 2 minutes. After installing the blepharostat, the intramarginal edge of the upper and lower eyelids, the area of the lacrimal meat are treated with a povidone-iodine-moistened tupper. Next, 5% povidone-iodine is instilled into the conjunctival sac with an exposure of 1 minute.
EFFECT: invention provides reduction of microbial load due to eradication of the flora of meibomian glands and lacrimal sac during PE, increase in percentage of sterility of the aqueous humor of the anterior chamber at the end of the intervention.
