SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method and system for controlling heating in an aerosol-forming system. A method and system for controlling heating in an aerosol-forming system containing a heater is provided. The method includes the steps of: measuring a parameter (R) characterizing the heater temperature with a target value (Rtarget) for this parameter; if the measured parameter (R) is higher than the target value (Rtarget) by at least the first value, the power supply to the heater is blocked for the first period of time; and if the measured parameter is higher than the target value, but by an amount less than the first value, power supply to the heater is blocked for the second period of time shorter than the first time period.
EFFECT: in this way, rapid cooling of the heater is ensured if necessary.
