FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: set of oligonucleotides for the determination of the 12FAB serotype of Streptococcus pneumoniae by real-time polymerase chain reaction has been proposed. The kit includes a forward primer, a reverse primer and a fluorescent probe represented by unique sequences. Oligonucleotides do not cross-react with other tested S. pneumoniae serotypes, amplify a region conserved for the 12FAB serotype with a specificity of 96%, and make it possible to determine the presence or absence of a serotype-specific target for 12FAB serotype S. pneumoniae in biological material samples.

EFFECT: invention provides detection of 12FAB DNA of S. pneumoniae serotype with a high degree of specificity and can be used for identification of causative agents of pneumococcal infections and evaluation of the effectiveness of immunoprophylactic measures being taken.
