FIELD: light-emitting devices.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates in general to light-emitting devices and more specifically to devices for emitting short-wave ultraviolet far light. Proposed hand-held portable device for disinfecting the surface or the air surrounding the surface, containing: the main part, which contains the user input device; a UVC light source located in the main body; a source of visible illumination located in the main part; and a power supply for providing power to the UVC light source and the visible light source; wherein, in response to actuation of the user input device by the user of the handheld portable device, the UVC light source and the visible light source are powered, and the UVC light source emits UVC light to disinfect the surface, and the visible light source emits a visible pointer to the surface, which is illuminated by a UVC light source, where the visible pointer is a focused light indicating that the handheld device is located at a working distance from the surface to be sanitized. Moreover, the visible indicator is not a focused illumination indicating that the hand-held portable device is not located at a working distance from the surface to be disinfected. A variant of a hand-held portable device for disinfecting a surface or air surrounding a surface is also disclosed.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides a hand-held device safe for people, which can be used to disinfect selected surfaces, localized areas and/or the air surrounding such surfaces in order to destroy pathogens, in a format that is easily accessible and convenient for everyday use for the average consumer.
