SUBSTANCE: case (10) for an aerosol generating device (100) is proposed, said case (10) contains a case body (12), a power source (22) and a holder (14) for placing an aerosol generating device (100). The holder (14) is movably connected to the case body (12) for both rotational and translational movement relative to the case body and is movable relative to the case body (12) between the open position to accommodate the aerosol generating device (100), and a closed position for storing the aerosol generating device (100). The case (10) also contains an electrical case connector (26) configured to supply power from the case power source (22) to the aerosol generating device (100) when the aerosol generating device (100) is placed in the holder (14), and when the holder (14) is in each of the open position and the closed position. The case (10) also contains an input means and a case control circuit (24) configured to receive data from the input means. The case control circuit (24) is configured to transmit a signal to the aerosol generating device (100) via the case electrical connector (26), wherein the signal indicates the state of the input means.
