SUBSTANCE: invention is related to a case having a rotating holder for housing an aerosol generating device, and to a charging system containing the case and a docking station. A case (10) is proposed for the aerosol generating device (100). The case (10) contains a case body (12) and a holder (14) for placing an aerosol-generating device (100). The holder (14) is movable relative to the case body (12) between a closed position in which the aerosol generating device (100) is prevented from being removed from the holder (14) and a docking position in which the aerosol generating device (100) is can be removed from the holder (14). The case (10) also contains a case power source (22) located in the case body (12), and a case electrical connector (26) configured to supply power from the case power source (22) to the aerosol generating device (100), when the aerosol generating device (100) is placed in the holder (14). The case (10) also includes a charging connector (28) for receiving power from an external power source and a sensor (32) configured to detect the position of the holder (14) and generate a signal indicating the position of the holder (14). The case (10) also contains a controller (24) configured to receive a signal from the sensor (32). The controller (24) is configured to supply power received by the charging connector (28) from an external power source to the power supply (22) of the case when a signal indicates that the holder (14) is in the closed position. The controller (24) is configured to supply power received by the charging connector (28) from an external power source to the electrical connector (26) of the case when a signal indicates that the holder (14) is in the docking position.
