SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the prevention or treatment of cardiomyopathy and past myocardial infarction, as well as the resulting chronic heart failure. Methods are provided for treating cardiomyopathy and past myocardial infarction, preventing chronic heart failure caused by cardiomyopathy or past myocardial infarction, inhibiting a structural abnormality of the heart selected from cardiomegaly, cardiomyocyte hypertrophy, and myocardial fibrosis in a subject with cardiomyopathy or past myocardial infarction. The methods include administering to a subject with cardiomyopathy or prior myocardial infarction an effective amount of the following: (a) a peptide consisting of SEQ ID NO: 1; (b) a peptide consisting of an amino acid sequence in which one amino acid has been replaced, deleted, inserted or added in SEQ ID NO: 1, and having the activity of promoting migration of PDGFR α-positive and CD29-positive mesenchymal stem cells; or (c) a peptide consisting of an amino acid sequence having an identity of 97% or more with SEQ ID NO: 1 and having promoting activity of migration of PDGFR α-positive and CD29-positive mesenchymal stem cells.

EFFECT: inventions make it possible to improve heart functions by inhibiting cardiomegaly, cardiomyocyte hypertrophy and myocardial fibrosis and stimulating angiogenesis in dilated, ischemic and/or hypertensive cardiomyopathy.
