FIELD: production of borates.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in electronic engineering and nonlinear optics in creation of materials for elements that convert the frequency of laser radiation in the ultraviolet region of the optical spectrum. To obtain a low-temperature modification of a complex lithium and cadmium borate α-LiCdBO3:0.05Mn2+ by heat treatment, a mixture of Li2CO3, H3BO3 CdO, MnO at a molar ratio of 1:2:1.90:0.1 is used as starting components. Heat treatment is carried out with a stepwise rise in temperature from 400°C to 650°C for 90 hours, first at 400°C, then at 550°C and 650°C for 10, 40 and 40 hours, respectively.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to optimize synthesis of a complex lithium and cadmium borate with non-linear optical properties, reducing the duration of heat treatment.
