FIELD: foundry operations.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to improve the durability of a metal mould for casting magnesium alloys. Preheating and cleaning of the shaping surface of the metal mould is carried out by ion bombardment using an ion emitter. On the specified surface of a metal mould located on a rotating base, a lower adhesive layer of titanium nitride with a thickness of 2 μm and a hardness of 55-58 HRC is applied by cathode-ion bombardment in a vacuum chamber. An intermediate layer of titanium and molybdenum carbonitride with a thickness of 1.5 µm and a hardness of 63-65 HRC and an upper layer of molybdenum nitride with a thickness of 2.5 µm and a hardness of 57-61 HRC are applied over the lower adhesive layer.
EFFECT: increased service life of a mould for injection moulding of magnesium alloys.
