FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: pre-heating and cleaning of the shape-generating surface of the metal die mould by method of cathode-ion impingement are performed. On pre-cleaned shape-generating surface of the metal die mould layer with thickness 2 mcm out of molybdenum carbonitride is applied for adhesive connection of coating with metal surface of the die mould. Then over the bottom layer the intermediate layer with thickness 3 mcm out of titanium nitride ensuring high hardness of the entire coating is applied. The top layer with thickness 2 mcm out of molybdenum carbonitride is applied. All layers are applied by method of cathode-ion impingement in vacuum chamber, at that the coated shape-generating surface of the die mould is located on the rotating base, near it in same horizontal plane against each other the cathodes are installed, their evaporation is performed using the electric arc in the evaporator with simultaneous action of the ion radiator in form of reaction gas.

EFFECT: increased reliability and durability of the protective coating of the die moulds for die casting.
