SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a capsule for the preparation of a food product, such as a drink, having a body with an integral sealing element made of a metallic material such as aluminium. The capsule (10) has a longitudinal axis (y) and contains a bowl-shaped body-base (1) provided with a closed end (1a) and side walls (1b) to hold the ingredients for preparing a drink, and a flange-type rim (2) placed on the open end (1c) of the base body (1) and radially ending in a curved outer edge (2c). The capsule additionally contains a sealing element (3) for providing a fluid-tight engagement with the sealing profile of the element (21) for engaging the capsule in the device (20) for preparing a drink, and the specified sealing profile has at least one sealing surface (21a, 21b, 21c). The sealing element (3) contains at least one dedicated surface (4) located at the junction of the side walls (1b) of the base body (1) and the rim (2) of the flange type, and the specified dedicated surface (4) has the shape at least one step protruding above the rim (2) of the flange type. After engagement between the sealing profile of the capsule engagement element (21) and at least one step of the specially designed surface (4), at least one step is plastically deformed, and at the location of at least one step (4), the capsule (10) contains a rim (2) flange type, having a profile corresponding to the shape of at least one of the sealing surfaces (21a, 21b, 21c), and the specified profile is at least three adjacent surfaces (S1, S2, S3), each of which has a different orientation.
