SUBSTANCE: invention is a method, which consists in sequential testing of indicators of the intensity of metabolic processes and the actualization of hereditary qualities of cow through calculation of a complex indicator - an adaptation index (Ia), calculated by the ratio of the average value of the actualization of the selection index for a group of animals (in the numerator) to the value of the intensity of metabolic processes (in the denominator) for the analysed period according to the formula Ia = MR/G, where MR is the average value of the actualization realization of the hereditary potential of productivity (parental index of the cow (PIC), the parental index of the bull (PIB) and other breeding indices can be used for this),%; G - weight of the correlation graph, in fractions. The higher the actualization of the hereditary potential of productivity, the lower the intensity of metabolic processes, which means that adaptation is more successful.

EFFECT: invention can be used to assess the adaptive qualities of beef cattle, as well as in other branches of productive and unproductive animal husbandry, when selecting animals as part of industrial technology, as well as in breeding and selection methods.
