FIELD: electroplating.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the manufacture of personal items that are in close contact with a person, often in prolonged contact with the skin. The method for electrolytic deposition of a copper layer adhered to the surface of stainless steel objects without signs of delamination includes the stage of cathodic treatment in an electrolytic bath containing methanesulfonic acid with a concentration of 100 to 400 g/l and copper in an aqueous solution, while the electrolytic bath contains one or more chelating agents to form complexes of copper present in solution, and/or one or more etchants to remove surface oxides. The invention also relates to an article for use in contact with human skin, comprising stainless steel provided with a copper coating obtained by the method described above.
EFFECT: the resulting coating is non-toxic, does not harm users, is firmly adhered to the surface of a stainless steel object without signs of delamination.
