FIELD: medicine, pediatrics.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns the prediction of the risk of development or progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in children with a typical form of hemolytic-uremic syndrome (stec-HUS). The method includes taking blood, determining the level of serotonin 5-HT in blood plasma and blood plasma enriched with platelets, determining the level of 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) in blood plasma in a patient with a typical form of hemolytic uremic syndrome and determining the risk of developing CKD in children with stec-HUS according to the formula. If a value is greater than or equal to 0.577 in children with a typical form of hemolytic uremic syndrome, a high risk of developing CKD or progression of chronic kidney disease is predicted.
EFFECT: invention provides a reliable prediction of the risk of developing chronic kidney disease in children with hemolytic-uremic syndrome at an early stage of the development of the disease and, accordingly, the possibility of timely nephroprotective therapy in order to prevent the progression of CKD.
