FIELD: study of materials for wear resulting from cavitation.
SUBSTANCE: measurement of the height parameter of the surface roughness of the tested samples is carried out after testing in fresh water on a magnetostrictive vibrator, based on the results of which the dependencies R Ra(t) are built, where Ra is the arithmetic mean deviation of the sample surface roughness profile, t is the duration of cavitation exposure. The duration of the incubation period t is determined by the abscissa of the point on the dependence Ra(t), in which the monotonicity or monotonicity and smoothness of the function Ra(t) is violated.
EFFECT: possibility to determine the duration of the incubation period of cavitation wear of polymeric materials.
