METHOD OF NON-INVASIVE EVALUATION OF A PATIENT VOLEMIC STATUS IN PRON-POSITION Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC A61B8/00 A61B5/107

SUBSTANCE: low-frequency ultrasonic sensor is installed on the body of a patient horizontally lying on the stomach, and visualization is performed in the B-mode of the inferior vena cava in a longitudinal section at the place where the hepatic vein flows into it. Subsequent determination of the site of the inferior vena cava, located 2 cm caudal to the confluence, and registration in the M-mode of changes in the size of the inferior vena cava in this area are carried out during 3 respiratory cycles. The maximum and minimum dimensions of the vein are determined, the collapse index of the inferior vena cava is calculated from the obtained values, and a conclusion is made on hypovolemia when the obtained value is more than 50%. The plane of the ultrasonic sensor is installed in the eleventh intercostal space along the right paravertebral line, retreating from it by 2 cm in the lateral direction with a sensor tilt angle of 1–15° to the sagittal plane.

EFFECT: method ensures the safety of non-invasive assessment of the patient's volemic status in the prone position by reducing the risk of hypoxia and hypoxic damage to internal organs that occur in the supine position, besides the method ensured efficiency by improving the accuracy of measurements of the anterior-posterior size of the IVC.
