FIELD: document processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the verification of an identity document. The technical result is an increase in reliability in the verification of an individual arriving at an immigration control point. The method and system for verifying an identity document generates a decentralized identifier for the passenger, which is then used by the passport issuing authority to digitally sign the passport data including enhanced biometric data including the bearer's image. A copy of the signed data is provided for the bearer. Prior to travel, the bearer provides the APIS data and their decentralized identifier to the authorities at the place of arrival. This data is verified in advance and issued by the authority to the bearer for use in the pre-authorized immigration section. Upon arrival, the bearer's image is received and checked against the pre-approved traveler's records. If a match is found, then the bearer is allowed to pass through the automated border control gate.
EFFECT: increase in reliability in the verification of an individual arriving at an immigration control point.
