The maximum number of candidates for merging in the geometric merge mode is determined based on information about the maximum number of candidates for the geometric merge mode in the coding information of the encoded video bitstream. Information about the maximum number of geometric merge mode candidates indicates a relationship between the maximum number of geometric merge mode candidates and the maximum number of merge candidates. Determination of the maximum number of candidates for merging in the geometric merge mode is performed by subtracting the value indicated by the maximum number of candidates for the geometric merge mode from the maximum number of candidates for merging.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of video coding.
