FIELD: gas purification.
SUBSTANCE: purification of inert gases from oxygen used in the chemical, metallurgical, power, electronic, and nuclear industries, including pyrochemical processing of spent nuclear fuel. The method consists in setting and maintaining a predetermined flow rate of the purified inert gas. Then the gas to be purified is compressed and fed under high pressure to the first receiver, from which it is reduced and purified from oxygen using a solid electrolyte electrochemical cell. The content of oxygen in it is controlled using a potentiometric solid electrolyte electrochemical cell. Further, the preset flow rate of the inert gas washing the internal electrodes of the electrochemical cells is set and maintained. Then the purified gas is compressed and fed under high pressure into the second receiver, from which it is reduced. If, according to the readings of the potentiometric cell, the degree of purification of the inert gas from oxygen is insufficient, then the specified flow rate of the inert gas washing the internal electrodes of the cells is gradually reduced until the required degree of purification of the inert gas from oxygen is reached.
EFFECT: increasing the productivity of inert gas purification from oxygen to the level sufficient for the use of this gas in pyrochemical processing of spent nuclear fuel.
