FIELD: continuous casting of blanks.
SUBSTANCE: method of casting with direct cooling of a metal or metal alloy includes supplying molten metal to a direct cooling mould, cooling the melt in the mould to obtain a billet with a hard shell and a molten core forming a tapering well, removing the billet from the mould and further cooling it after the mould outlet to obtain a solid blank. Vibration energy is applied to the melt located in the hole of the molten core of the billet by means of a device located inside the mould. In addition, a purge gas flow is injected into the melt in the well. Vibration energy is applied to the surface of the hard outer shell of the billet behind the exit from the mould in the area of the tapering well through a layer of a cooling agent sprayed onto the surface of the hard outer shell of the billet.
EFFECT: obtaining a cast billet having a homogeneous microstructure, without the use of a chemical for grinding grains or using a minimum amount of a chemical for grinding grains.
