FIELD: experimental aerothermodynamics.

SUBSTANCE: shock tube contains series-connected high-pressure chambers, a means of closing the channel and a low-pressure chamber in the form of a cylindrical channel, in which pressure sensors are placed in series, in the plane of one of which there is a viewing window, against which a photomultiplier tube (PMT) is located outside the shock tube. Signals from pressure transducers and photomultipliers are displayed on the computer through analogue-to-digital converters.

EFFECT: determination in the shock tube of the start of gas ionization in the shock wave.
