FIELD: medicine, forensic medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in forensic medical examinations to determine the nature of gastric contents, namely breast milk or milk mixture during aspiration. Essence of the method: slices of lung tissue are prepared in a microtome-cryostat without prior fixation, the slices are straightened in distilled water and mounted on a glass slide. Then it is immersed for 1 minute in a 0.1 N solution of bromine in a 2% solution of potassium bromide, washed, immersed in a 1% solution of sodium thiosulfate for 1 minute, washed in seven changes of distilled water, treated with a 1% solution of silver nitrate in 1N nitric acid for 18–22 hours, washed in seven changes of distilled water. Then it is washed in Foma Fomadon R09 developer diluted with distilled water in a ratio of 1:1 for 10 minutes. It is enclosed in glycerol-gelatin, and microscopic examination is carried out. If granules from yellow to black are found in the lumen of the bronchi/bronchioles/alveoli, aspiration of breast milk or milk mixtures is considered.

EFFECT: method improves the accuracy and objectivity of diagnosing aspiration of breast milk and milk mixtures as a direct cause of death of a child in the first year of life, reduces the time of the investigation.
