FIELD: continuous casting.

SUBSTANCE: crystallizer contains plate (1) made of copper or copper alloy. On entire inner surface of plate (1) or on its part, at least from meniscus of liquid steel by 20 mm downwards, separate sections (3) are made, filled with metal or nonmetal, heat conductivity of which differs from thermal conductivity of crystallizer plate metal. Surface of each said recess in arbitrary recess area is curvilinear surface having curvature in any direction or curvilinear surface having sections curved in any direction and flat surface.

EFFECT: prevention of surface cracks of the crust of the workpiece at an early stage of crystallization is ensured, the formation of cracks on the mold wall is reduced.
