FIELD: measurements.
SUBSTANCE: method for measuring the electrical capacitance (including various capacitor sensors of various process parameters: level, pressure, displacement, etc.) controlled in the measuring path is that the measurements are made by charging the capacitance to a steady-state voltage value followed by measuring the time interval of voltage drop from high to low level in the process of discharging the capacitance to the active high-resistance load of the measuring path. The measurement method is applicable for previously unknown values of the resistance and capacitance of the measuring path, the resistance of the current-limiting resistor. Before measuring the values of resistances and capacitances, the steady-state values of voltages, resistances and load capacitances are determined as a result of the calibration of the measuring path. To determine the value of the measured capacitance, two measurements are performed: measuring the capacitance of the measuring path and measuring the required capacitance connected in parallel together with the capacitance of the measuring path, the measured capacitance is determined by the difference of the two measurements.
EFFECT: accurate capacitance measurement.
