SUBSTANCE: method for producing a purified vegetable oil, the method comprising bringing the vegetable oil, which has not been subjected to a deodorization step, into contact with an alumina-containing adsorbent, wherein the adsorbent has an alumina content of not more than 9.5% by weight, preferably not more than 9 wt.%, more preferably not more than 8.5 wt.%. The use of an adsorbent to reduce the formation of esters of chloropropanol and fatty acids in a vegetable liquid oil that has not been subjected to a deodorization step in a method for producing deodorized vegetable liquid oils, and the adsorbent has an alumina content of not more than 9.5 wt.%.
