SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to assess the risk of developing life-threatening complications of COVID-19. Peripheral venous blood sampling is performed; determination of the number of neutrophils (N), lymphocytes (L) in a blood sample, determination of the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR). The coefficient of the inflammatory response (KV/R) is Determined according to the following formula: Кv/Р=0,007×ESR+0,046×N/L. Upon receipt of the value of KV/P≥0.369, there is a high risk of developing life-threatening complications of COVID-19. If the value of KV/P<0.369, a conclusion is made about a low risk of developing life-threatening complications of COVID-19.

EFFECT: method provides the possibility of assigning a patient hospitalized with a coronavirus infection to a group with a high or low risk of life-threatening complications, including a "cytokine storm", in a way that does not require complex instrumental support, by determining the erythrocyte sedimentation rate and counting the number of lymphocytes and neutrophils in a blood sample.
