FIELD: medicine; neurosurgery.
SUBSTANCE: gestational age, the volume of filling of the ventricular system with blood and thrombotic masses, the degree of development of leukomalacia are determined. Each sign is evaluated in points, namely: gestational age of 34–37 weeks is evaluated as 1 point, 30–33 weeks — as 2 points, 28–29 weeks — as 3 points. The volume of filling of the ventricular system with blood and thrombotic masses: 1 point is assigned if 1 lateral ventricle is filled, 2 points are assigned if both lateral ventricles are filled, 3 points are assigned if the III ventricle is filled, 4 points are assigned if the IV ventricle is filled. The degree of development of leukomalacia: the first degree is estimated as 1 point, the second degree — as 2 points, the third degree — as 3 points. The scores are summed up. With a score of 3–5, a low risk of developing posthemorrhagic hydrocephalus is predicted, with a score of 6–7, an average risk is predicted, with a score of 8–10, a high risk of developing posthemorrhagic hydrocephalus is predicted.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to increase the accuracy of hydrocephalus development prediction after intraventricular hemorrhages in newborns, to reduce invasiveness.
