METHOD OF ASSESSING THE SEVERITY OF PSORIASIS Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC G01N33/483 G01Q60/30

Abstract RU 2801467 C1

FIELD: medicine; dermatology.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to assess the severity of psoriasis. The examination of biopsy of the patient's skin from the lesion is performed. A skin biopsy specimen is applied to a mica substrate, it is scanned by atomic force microscopy in the spectroscopy mode, and the approach-retraction force curves are recorded. Based on the data obtained, the Young's modulus is calculated by the formula:

where: zdefl is console bend; k is cantilever stiffness, ν is Poisson's ratio equal to 0.48; R is the radius of rounding of the needle; h is the difference between the Y coordinate of the contact point of the cantilever tip with the surface under study. When the value of Young's modulus is from 0.51 to 1.5 MPa, the patient being examined is diagnosed with mild psoriasis, from 1.50 to 2.5 MPa moderate severity of psoriasis is diagnosed, from 2.51 to 3.5 MPa severe psoriasis is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method allows to increase the objectivity, accuracy of assessing the severity of the course of psoriasis by examining the patient's skin biopsy from the lesion using scanning by atomic force microscopy in the spectroscopy mode and calculating the Young's modulus.
