The method for improving the metabolic health of an animal includes administering to the animal a non-ketogenic food composition containing: from 30 to 65% proteins, from 5 to 25% carbohydrates and from 10 to 40% fats, wherein the ratio of proteins and carbohydrates in the non-ketogenic food composition is at least 2:1.
EFFECT: ability to improve and maintain the metabolic health of the animal due to the specific ratio of proteins and carbohydrates.
