SUBSTANCE: method for stimulating lean body weight, minimizing body fat accumulation and maintaining weight without limiting consumption of calories includes feeding an animal with a food composition in an amount exceeding the basic energy requirement for supporting animal's vital activity (MER). Food composition may contain 30 % to 65 % protein, 10 % to 20 % carbohydrate and 10 % to 25 % fat. Protein and carbohydrate can be present at a ratio effective for stimulating lean body weight, minimizing fat accumulation in the body and maintaining weight when the food composition is administered to an animal. Amount of the food composition is in the range from more than 105 % to 200 % MER.
