FIELD: aerosol generating systems.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions is claimed, including a method for generating an aerosol and an aerosol generating system. The aerosol generating system comprises a reservoir holding the aerosol generating substrate in condensed form. Also includes a housing containing an air inlet, an air outlet. Also a passage for the flow of air passing between them, and a chamber. It also contains a liquid-permeable heating element extending parallel to the air flow passage. One side of the heating element is in fluid communication with the reservoir and the opposite side of the heating element is in fluid communication with the chamber. The heating element is configured to heat the aerosol generating substrate in condensed form to generate steam within the chamber, and the gas permeable element extending parallel to the air flow passage. One side of the gas permeable element is in fluid communication with the chamber. The opposite side of the gas permeable element is in fluid communication with the air flow passage. The gas permeable member is configured to allow transport of vapour into the air flow passage and is configured to block transport of a condensed form of the aerosol generating substrate into the air flow passage. The vapour is at least partially condensed into an aerosol in the air flow passage.
EFFECT: improved vapour transport, which prevents liquid leakage and improves the quality of aerosol generation.
