FIELD: organic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for making (2E,2' E)-2.2' -(1,2,4-thiadiazol-3,5-diyl) bis (3-arylacrylonitriles) of general formula 1, where Ar is an aromatic substituent. The method is carried out by electrochemical oxidation of the compound of the formula , where Ar is an aromatic substituent, in an unshared cell using graphite electrodes in a 0.5-1.0 M aqueous or aqueous-organic potassium bromide medium at a temperature of 25-60°C and exposure to direct electric current with a current strength of 0.15-1.0 A and a voltage of 4-10 V.
EFFECT: improvement of the method for obtaining (2E,2' E)-2.2' -(1,2,4-thiadiazol-3,5-diyl) bis (3-arylacrylonitriles) of general formula 1 by increasing the yield of target products.
