SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an agent for the treatment of periodontitis and a method of treatment using it. The agent contains a hydrophilic base and medicinal additives, while a mucoadhesive mixture of a solution of silicon tetraglycerolate Si(C₃H₇O₃)4 in glycerin C₃H₈O₃, a slightly acidic aqueous solution of chitosan [(C₈H₁₃O₅N)_0.18(C₆H₁₁O₄N)_0.82]_n with a degree of deacetylation of 0.82 and a molecular weight of 200 kDa and polyvinylpyrrolidone [C₈H₁₃O₅N]_n with a molecular weight of 30 kDa in a molar ratio to the original components: Si(C₃H₇O₃)₄:C₃H₈O₃:[(C₈H₁₃O₅N)_0.18(C₆H₁₁O₄N)_0.82]:[C₈H₁₃O₅N]:H₂O=1.0:6.0:(0.2÷2.8):(0.1÷4.2):(15,5÷1934.2). As medicinal additives, the product contains ketoprofen and Aquadetrim® in the form of an aqueous solution of vitamin D₃ with a concentration of 15,000 IU/1 ml in the following ratio, wt. %: ketoprofen 0.80÷ 1.20, Aquadetrim® 21.33÷ 32.00, mucoadhesive mixture — the rest up to 100. The agent can be made in the form of a solution to obtain a spray, in the form of a film, in the form of an ointment. A method of the treatment of periodontitis in postmenopausal women is performing conservative complex therapy, performing professional oral hygiene and performing laser curettage of periodontal pockets using a diode laser in the gingivectomy mode in the "treatment of periodontal pockets" function with immersion of the light guide beyond the marginal edge of periodontal pockets and subsequent carrying out medical treatment of the marginal and papillary gums of the oral cavity.
