FIELD: video encoding.

SUBSTANCE: prediction luminance sample, a mapped prediction luminance sample based on the prediction luminance sample; information related to luminance chrominance scaling (LMCS) mapping based on the mapped prediction luminance sample; and a residual brightness sample based on the mapped prediction brightness sample are generated. Residual information is derived based on the residual luminance sample. Image information including LMCS-related information and residual information is encoded. Moreover, the generation of the restored brightness sample is additionally performed based on the prediction brightness sample and the residual brightness sample. The index of the piecewise function is derived based on the information associated with the LMCS. A modified reconstructed luminance sample is generated based on the reconstructed luminance sample and a piecewise function index. Moreover, the minimum bin index and the maximum bin index are derived based on the information associated with the LMCS.

EFFECT: increase of efficiency of video encoding.
