FIELD: electrical engineering and electric power.
SUBSTANCE: used in electrical networks for flexible regulation and stabilization of voltage in the electrical network by changing the magnitude of the voltage introduced in series into the transmission line. In the method, the AC voltage regulator is controlled with a fixed delay relative to the time points of reaching the zero level by the supply network voltage, while when a request is received to change the output voltage level, the time point of reaching the zero level supply network voltage is fixed, a time delay is introduced, the minimum duration of which is determined based on the maximum allowable current of bidirectional thyristor switches, and after the end of the time delay, control pulses are removed from all bidirectional thyristor switches and the bidirectional thyristor switches are switched to a new state corresponding to a new value of the output voltage level.
EFFECT: expanding the scope of the control method by expanding the range of permissible operating modes of the AC voltage regulator and simplifying the control system of the AC voltage regulator by reducing the number of measuring channels.
