SUBSTANCE: invention relates to tobacco industry, in particular, to devices simulating tobacco smoking process. Aerosol-generating system comprises an aerosol-generating article comprising an aerosol-forming substrate rod, and a filter located downstream of the aerosol-forming substrate rod. Substrate rod and filter are assembled inside the wrapper. Aerosol-generating article comprises a first air intake zone located on the wrapper and configured to allow air intake into the inner space of the aerosol-generating article. Aerosol-generating device has a distal end and a mouthpiece end and comprises a casing defining a cavity of the device for an aerosol-generating article at the mouthpiece end of the device, as well as a heater. Air flow channel is configured to create a fluid communication between the inner space of the cavity of the device and the outer part of the aerosol-generating device. Aerosol-generating device comprises a peripheral wall defining the cavity of the device. When placing the aerosol-generating article inside the aerosol-generating device, the sealing part of the peripheral wall is configured to create a tight fit with the aerosol-generating part of the article, in a position further downstream or earlier downstream relative to the first air intake zone of the aerosol-generating article.
